Important Facts About AEDs

without comments

AED

AED

Many individuals have recently become more attuned to the threat posed by sudden cardiac arrest. A dangerous phenomenon that often strikes without any warning signs whatsoever, these types of emergencies happen with alarming frequency when we least expect it. In order to raise public understanding of sudden cardiac arrest and to try and limit the number of resulting deaths, governmental units nationwide have started requiring artificial external defibrillators (AEDs) to be maintained in a wide range of public places.

AEDs are handy, portable tools which can, when properly utilized, greatly impact survival rates in a positive way for those who suffer sudden cardiac arrest. When medical emergencies of this type happen, time really is of the essence, and these devices can buy precious minutes that regularly make the difference between life and death.

Sudden cardiac arrest is often the result of malfunctioning of the heart’s electrical system in which blood flow stops without notice. Without immediate treatment, those who experience this cessation of function typically die. However, it is frequently possible for such individuals to be saved by performance of CPR and the use of a defibrillator to provide an electrical shock to the heart. It is vital that a defibrillator be present and ready to use at a moment’s notice, because it is estimated that for each single minute that treatment does not occur, a patient’s likelihood of surviving the event drops by approximately ten percent.

An AED will be equipped with internal computers which will measure the patient’s heart function by way of skin-attached electrodes. This determines whether or not is is appropriate for the patient to be shocked. If a shock is indicated, the machine will tell the operator to administer the treatment while guiding him or her through the critical steps. Anyone who has been trained on the use of these tools will agree that they are extremely safe and accurate in terms of assessing which patients are good candidates for shock and which are not.

Considering the amazing life-saving ability of these devices, it is not surprising that governments at all levels across the nation have begun mandating the presence of AEDs in a number of venues. Some of the public places where defibrillators may need to be placed include school buildings, government facilities, sports arenas, museums, nursing homes and airports.

Some states have also expanded Good Samaritan laws so that individuals who use these devices in order to provide emergency, life-saving aid to others will not be held liable if death or significant injury still occurs. This is seen by many as an important step in the expansion of availability of these vital tools.

Other organizations have taken the initiative to launch AED training, maintenance and placement programs as a means to improve public health outcomes in their own communities. Statistics have suggested that sudden cardiac deaths have been significantly reduced in areas that have instituted AED awareness plans and raised money for additional availability of the devices in public places.

A Company Profile About BWS Manufacturing

without comments

BWS Manufacturing

BWS Manufacturing

BWS Manufacturing is a company that specializes in the design, building and distribution of trailers intended for the heaviest trucks on the road, whether they’re hauling commercial products in an eighteen wheeler or a more specialized tractor trailer such as a lumber hauler or an oil and gas delivery truck. Without these and other trailers, mass industry in most parts of the world grind to a halt, yet few people realize the difficulties behind the conception, construction and use of these massive devices that make the modern world possible. Each large trailer is a specialized device intended for a specific job, and their design and manufacture must account for this every step of the way.

BWS Manufacturing designs and builds trailers for a wide variety of commercial and industrial purposes, with a focus on quality and reliability that makes the company’s reputation grow with each new customer. Having been in business for almost half a century, the company has been there for a great many twists and turns in the modern trailer manufacturing industry, yet their focus on building quality trailers in the United States and Canada and selling their wares for the North American market has seen to it that they’ve survived the rough economic times of the past few decades to grow and even thrive on their reputation for building some of the best, most durable and most dependable trailers in the industry.

One of their designs from their in house engineering department has actually been awarded a patent on what many consider to be among the quickest and less difficult to load air assisted gooseneck trailers that are detachable. Indeed, a number of their models are air assisted for their tilting decks and ramps, using compressed air rather than heavier hydraulic lift systems. This has a number of benefits, the least of which is that the trailers are far more environmentally friendly for using fewer potentially hazardous chemicals. These designs also take a great deal less equipment to build, use and repair, making maintaining these trailers a less expensive proposition for the owner of the trailer, something any shipping company can find incredibly important for the long term use of their equipment. And, with the engineers and designs of the company continuing to push the envelop of what’s possible, each new year is a new set of possibilities for newer, more powerful and efficient designs for trailers to match and exceed the competition.

The company employs a number of CWB certified welders that they treat not as laborers but as artisans. These welders and other workers have crafted a wide range of trailers for the company’s sales lots for a wide variety of specialized purposes. Their trailers have been crafted for a wide range of agricultural purposes, as well as work in the construction and forestry industries. The company builds a number of other devices for hauling oil and gas and other more specific yet no less essential purposes.

A Simple Guide To Understanding Bid Bonds

without comments

Bid Bonds

Bid Bonds

Bid bonds are important as they act as proof of guarantee to project owners. They show that a contractor can comply with the bid contract and act as proof that they can complete the job as stipulated in the contract. These bonds are a guarantee that you provide to project owners stating that you have the capability to take on a project and implement it once the project owner has selected you during the bidding process.

Often, project owners don’t know if the contractor has all the necessary resources to take up a project or if he or she is financially stable. However, with a bid bond in place, they can feel more comfortable when awarding a project to contractors knowing that if a contractor fails to deliver, they can get compensation from the bond.

What Happens When A Bond Obligation Isn’t Met?

If bond obligations aren’t met, the surety, and the principal – referring to the contractor – are held liable for the bond both jointly and severally. Often, there are some penalties that will take effect when the contractor fails to fully comply with the obligations stipulated in the bond. Both the surety and principal will be held liable for any additional costs the project owner incurs when selecting and awarding a different contractor. Normally, this is the difference in dollars between the lowest bid and the second lowest bid. The standard penal sum of most bonds is often 10 to 20% of the total bid amount.

Asking for bid bonds helps project owners sift serious contenders from jokers as it makes it hard for contractors to submit frivolous bids as they would be required to get the work done, or pay for bond premiums. At the same time, companies that issue bonds perform comprehensive financial and credit reviews before providing bonds to a company.

When bidding, most contractors will estimate what a job will cost them to complete. They then submit this cost to the project owner in the form of a bid. This means that the company providing bond will have to pay the project owner the difference between the lowest bid and the next lowest bid. There are times when bonding companies may sue contractors who defaulted to recover these costs. However, the possibility of a lawsuit is usually determined by the terms of the bond itself.

The Miller Act stipulates that all federal project bidders should submit a bid bond before bidding for any project task. Since this is one of the most effective ways to ensure that you get serious people working on a project, many private companies have opted to copy this approach to protect themselves from risks during the bidding process.

As a contractor in the construction industry, it is extremely important that you get surety bonds if you want to be more competitive. In some localities, surety bonds are required for you to obtain permits and licenses. Similarly, almost all developers and project owners will require that contractors submit bid bonds before they can bid on their projects.

The Importance Of Using a Math Tutor

without comments

Math Tutor

Math Tutor

There are times during a students educational journey when certain classes can seem to get the best of the student. One of those classes many times is math class, as it is really, many times, coming at the student from a different direction than he or she is used to.

The terms and nomenclature of math is different than the everyday life of the student, and this may be a first encounter with a new, and strange subject with as much detail as a math class can entail.

In cases such as this, it is not unusual for the parents of a student in this kind of situation to hire a math tutor to help the student with one-on-one instruction. This can be an excellent way to “get over the hump” so to speak and gain understanding in a better way than is possible in a classroom setting with other students.

A good tutor in math will have a full grasp of the subject matter, yet what is more important is that the tutor will be fully capable of getting the concepts of whatever stage your student across to him or her.

A tutor has to have very good skills in communication as well as an empathy that has no limits. Students who cannot grasp a concept will have more difficulty than most, because nothing will make any sense at all to the student until he or she understands the concept.

Then too, with math there are a lot of procedural steps to problems, where if the student can learn the steps the problems can be solved by simply memorizing the steps.

For example, Algebra is all about solving for unknowns, and if the student learns the processes that it takes to find the solution for the problem, then the rest is made much easier. Algebra is one of the basic forms of math that is used a lot in computer programming, as there is a lot of variables that have to get solved before a program can move on in a sequence.

Each student will have different needs and different ways that they learn. A good tutor must be able to find out how the student learns best, and then gravitate the teaching so that it accommodates the learning method that the student uses the best.

It has been said that the best learning occurs when visual, audible and tactile forms are all combined into one grouping. For example if the person is a visual learner, he or she will respond best when it is “seen” by the way of an illustration step-by-step, or a picture.

If that can be combined along with audio, or an audible explanation, the audio will enhance the video. So a math tutor would illustrate the working of a problem with an audio explanation as the problem unfolds.

Math is like music in that it can also be learned well when it is practiced over and over. So the tutor will have the student do just that with problems until mastery is the result. It is easier to help a student in this way on an individual basis, thus the advantage to tutoring.

Wrongful Termination From Employment

without comments

dismissalIn the modern economic climate, losing one’s job can easily be a devastating blow, financially, emotionally and socially. It can be even worse when an employee has lost their job unfairly, whether due to discrimination, personal vendettas or any number of toxic employer relations. Wrongful dismissal, also known as wrongful termination and wrongful discharge, is a legal phrase to encapsulate a situation where an employee has be terminated from a position under circumstances where the termination breaches the terms of an employment contract or a statute in employment laws. If an employer is found to have wrongfully terminated an employee, they could potentially pay substantial liabilities.

Lacking a formal or informal employment contract, an employee can still file a wrongful termination suit if they can show an implied contract for permanent employment, combined with facts that prove or at least imply that the firing lacked proper cause. Legal precedents have established that provisions in employee handbooks can create an implied contract, such as laying out what can and can not cause an employee to lose their job, even without a formal contract.

If a fired employee is basing their claim on public law rather than violation of a contract, they must prove that their employer has taken an illegal action, such as illegal discrimination or retribution for whistle blowing or refusing to break the law for an employer. For instant, a meat packer terminated for refusing to lie to inspectors could, if they can prove they lost their job for refusing to lie to inspectors, file for wrongful dismissal claims against their employer. Precedents exist for both discrimination and retribution for whistle blowing wrongful termination lawsuits, though it can often fall more upon the employee to prove that they lost their job unfairly than for the employer to prove the actions they took were legal.

In the United States, every state except for Montana considers employment “at will.” This means that by default, an employee can lose their job at any time without being given a reason, and that an employee can leave their job at any with no reason given. The major exceptions to these laws include the aforementioned employment contracts or firing that goes against either the law or company policy. In the case of implied contracts, an employee can base their suit around statements made by their employer, though this can be particularly difficult to prove, especially since few employers make promises of continued employment.

Proving wrongful termination that was illegal is not always an easy task. Most states only consider rules and laws laid out by a state’s constitution or statutes to be important in such cases. In addition to refusing to break the law, an employee can also not be fired for reporting an employer’s violation of the law, nor can the employer fire an employee for engaging in acts considered “in the public interest” such as jury duty. Finally, refusing to perform an act that are considered against the public’s interest can also be the basis for a wrongful dismissal suit, though they are far harder to prove.
